I’ve always been drawn to woodworking. I remember as a kid, drilling a hole in my mom’s wood floor. I loved sanding wood blocks until they were perfectly smooth – good enough was never good enough. Returning from a stint in the navy, woodworking felt like a natural path. What started as a means to earning a living, became a life’s passion.
Initially experimenting with refinishing and refurbishing select antiques, my journey led me first to custom furniture making, and next to several years building homes and condominiums. My love of the sea and woodworking eventually merged, leading me to embark on a 30-year career building custom wooden boats – everything from 65 foot schooners, to historical canal boats to 100 foot tour boats. I loved the work, but eventually wanted to strike out on my own.
Opening my own shop allows me to continue to work on boats, including restoring a 1978 Boston Whaler, rebuilding the Morgan – familiar to many as the tour boat for the Sagamore Resort on Lake George, and renovating the Eastern Star – an 80-foot dinner cruiser based in Long Island. It also allows me to take on a variety of challenging and diverse projects – building custom furniture pieces in exotic woods, satisfying my love of historic buildings through barn and home restoration, creating unique outdoor spaces with decking and pergolas, and currently rebuilding an 1857 Button and Blake wood hand-pumper fire engine for the Waterford Historical Museum. Good enough is still not good enough.
Having my own shop is making my life’s dream a reality. Now I am looking forward to working with you to turn your dream projects into reality.
Let’s talk,
